Teeth whitening FAQs
What teeth whitening system do you use?
We use the Beaming White Futura 2400 professional whitening light, paired with professional whitening gel, to help lift stains and brighten your smile.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Eat a normal meal about 3–4 hours before your appointment. We recommend brushing and flossing beforehand, but avoid brushing your gums aggressively right before treatment, as this may make them more sensitive. We'll send you pre- and post-care information.
How long does teeth whitening take?
Treatment time varies depending on your starting shade, sensitivity and treatment plan. Your provider will review the process with you before beginning.
How white will my teeth get?
Results vary from person to person. Your starting shade, enamel, type of staining, lifestyle habits and individual response to whitening all affect your final result. Most clients see about 1–3 shades whiter.
Will whitening work on crowns, veneers or fillings?
Whitening gel is designed to lighten natural tooth structure. Crowns, veneers, bonding, fillings, implants and other dental restorations will not whiten, and may look a different color than your newly whitened natural teeth.
Will my teeth be sensitive afterward?
Temporary sensitivity can happen after whitening. If it does, avoid very hot or cold foods and drinks, and consider a toothpaste made for sensitive teeth. Sensitivity generally improves after treatment.
What if my gums turn white or look darker after whitening?
Temporary whitening (blanching), irritation or changes in gum color can occasionally happen if whitening gel touches the gums. The area usually returns to its normal appearance gradually. Avoid rubbing, picking or brushing the area aggressively.
What should I eat or avoid after whitening?
For the first 24–48 hours, stick with light-colored foods like chicken, turkey, white fish, rice, potatoes, eggs, bananas, yogurt and pasta with light sauces. Avoid or limit coffee, tea, red wine, dark soda, berries, tomato sauce, curry, soy sauce, smoking and tobacco. See the white diet above.
How long will my results last?
It depends on your oral hygiene and lifestyle. Coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco and other staining foods and drinks can cause discoloration over time. Good oral hygiene and periodic whitening maintenance help keep your smile brighter.
